ABN – South African technology company Ambit is set to launch its innovative solar powered classroom.
The Education Delivered Intelligently (EDI) classroom will harness the continent’s abundance of sun to provide rural classrooms with electricity and help teachers overcome the pitfalls of load shedding.
TlamaTlama Primary School in Tembisa already uses the technology, which is a fully operational classroom and ICT hub in one.
Ambit director Louise van Loggerenberg said: "The EDI solar powered classrooms are designed to be used in rural, remote or even urban areas.
"Standard systems seamlessly integrate with solar PV, wind turbines and a range of other renewable sources.
“The classroom is fully insulated and can be supplied with electric lighting, heating/cooling and internet connectivity."
